Dr. Venhuis is attached to the Dutch National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) as a senior scientific officer. He holds a PhD in drug design & discovery and MScs in synthetic organic chemistry and teaching. Dr. Venhuis previously worked in clinical research and medicinal chemistry.
Since 2006, Dr. Venhuis works on combating falsified medical products in commission of the Healthcare Inspectorate and the Ministry of Health. He is involved in the laboratory analysis of suspect medicines, supplements, and medical devices that are seized in- and outside of the official system. In addition, he leads projects on assessing the health risks posed by falsified medical products. Dr. Venhuis represents RIVM at various anti-medicrime fora and regularly publishes in scientific journals.
