Administration of antidotes can be lifesaving in case of certain intoxications. In this lecture commonly used antidotes and the toxins that they are used for will be listed. Some examples of intoxications requiring antidote administration will be discussed in more detail. The function of the National Serum Depot containing antisera for treatment of venomous animal bites and stings will be explained, as well as the national stock of antidotes for treatment of accidental exposure to radioactive nuclides.
